OBITUARY
CLARK LYMAN DIES AT WYOMING HOME
Word was received here on Tuesday morning by relatives that Clark Ward Lyman, 41, former resident of Parawan, had died in Otto, Wyoming of Spotted (tick) fever. He leaves a widow, Maude Stubbs Lyman, and ten children, two of whom are married.

Clark's father Charles R. Lyman, also a native son of Parowan, died of the same malady in the same locallty a few years ago. This fever, which usually is fatal, is caused by the bit of a species of sheep tick which infests sections of Wyoming.

None of the details concerning Clark's tragic death are available as this is written, - merely the bare facts of his death. The sympathy of the community will go out to the bereaved family in the loss of a kind husband and father.

Funeral Services for Vern Lyman, 81, were held Wednesday, April 1, in the Escalante South Ward chapel with Bp. Lorell Munson in charge.

Prayer in the home was by Truman Lyman. Remarks by Bp. Munson; song, "My Future Home", by the Singing Mothers; talk, Chase Shurtz; song, "When I Take My Vacation in Heaven", by Veda Mitchell and Betty R. Alvey; History by Nethella Griffin; talk, J. Mr. Lyman died at his home March 29 of natural causes. He was born Jan. 5, 1878 at Panguitch to Amasa Mason Jr. and Rosanna Reynolds Lyman. On Oct. 7, 1909 he married Mary Melvina Wilcock in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a sawmill operator, a farmer, and served for two years as Garfield County Commissioner.

Survivors: widow; son, 3 daughters; Randall W. and Mrs. James B. (Millie) McInelly, Escalante; Mrs. Emmett E. (Vida) Harrison, Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. John (Orabell) Weigel, Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren; 3 brothers; 2 sisters.

OBITUARY
Virginia Lynn Lyman Green, age 56, passed away June 22, 2011 in Riverton, Utah after a long illness. She was born April 29, 1955 in Cedar City, Utah to Kathy and Don Lyman.

She attended West High and the U of U. She married Charlie Green on Aug 25, 1990 in SLC Utah. She loved learning. Some of her many interests included antiques, museums, cooking, books, and history. Ginny was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor with a keen memory. She loved to be surrounded by animals, family and friends.

Ginny is survived by her husband Charlie Green; Justin Green; father Donald (Gloria) Lyman; siblings: Bob (Kathy) Lyman, Will Lyman, Laura Lyman Silver, Steve Weaver, Bryan (Alana Lucinda) Weaver, David (Brittany) Weaver, John (Elana) Weaver; cousin, Michael Collins and adopted sister Tina Norton; nieces: Vickie (Brad) Simmons, Sarah (Paul) Craig, Cara (Greg) Nielsen; nephew Don (Valeria) Lyman. She is preceded in death by her mother Katherine Collins Lyman, siblings: Theresa Weaver and Rick Weaver.

A special thanks to Hospice for Utah. Services will be Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

OBITUARY
Donald Ray Lyman, 81, passed away on September 1, 2011 in South Jordan, Utah of cancer.

He was born in Cedar City, Utah to Eugene and Esther Petersen Lyman. He grew up and attended school in Parowan, graduated from Granite High School later attending Weber State College.

Don joined the U.S. Air Force and was one of the original members of the National Security Agency. After leaving military service he ran his family ranch until joining the Salt Lake Police Department, where he retired as a lieutenant. He built and owned the Ute car washes.

He enjoyed boating, camping, water skiing, golf and winters in St. George. Don and his wife Gloria enjoyed traveling the world together.

Survived by his wife Gloria, children Robert (Kathy) Lyman, William H. Lyman, Laura Silver, Steven Weaver, Bryan (Alana Lucinda) Weaver, John D. (Elena) Weaver, David E. (Brittany) Weaver, twenty grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by children Virginia Lyman, Theresa Weaver, and Richard Weaver.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the River View Ninth Ward Chapel, 11400 South 700 West, South Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church and at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Gunnison, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Don Lyman Anderson, Jr. age 79, of Gunnison, died March 14, 2007 in Provo of complications from a heart attack that he suffered on February 12.

He was born May 21, 1927 in Oak City, Utah, a son of Don Lyman and Thelma Lavern Lovell Anderson. He graduated from Delta High School, Class of 1945 and attended SUSC in Cedar City for 1 year.

He married Loraine Finlinson January 22, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Don was a member of the LDS Church, serving as Choir Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Counselor in a Bishopric, the Scouting Program, a Teacher and Leader in various callings.

He was a member of the Wayne Riding Club and he started a local newspaper, Wayne Wonderland News, in Wayne County 35 years ago. He has lived in Gunnison for the past 33 years and was formerly from Wayne County and Millard County.

Don loved horses. He enjoyed painting, fishing, his registered Hereford and Angus cattle, whittling and carving, camping and family outings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Loraine; his 6 children: Linda and George Blackburn of Fremont; Susan and Pace Ellett of Loa; Darcy and Julia Anderson of Maryland; JoAnn and Rod Taylor of Gunnison; Darlene and Kim Robinson of Salina; Lyman and Marci Anderson of Redmond; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Nephi Anderson of Idaho; Maurine and Glen Widdison of Willard; Colleen and Ken Wilkerson of Neola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lavern Anderson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Doctors, Staff and Nurses for their loving care of our husband and father for the past four weeks.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center in Gunnison. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Gunnison, Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.

Grave side services and burial will be Monday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Oak City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.

Levern Anderson (1929-2006)

OBITUARY
Levern Anderson, age 77, passed away on September 25, 2006 in Delta, Utah. She was born on May 30, 1929 in Oak City to Don Lyman and Thelma Levern Lovell Anderson. Levern grew up in Oak City until she reached the eighth grade. She moved to Ogden, Utah to finish High School. Later she was a member, and served as chaplain and vice-president, in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Member of Delta Fine Arts. Sung for years in the Oak City Ward Choir. She worked at the Deseret Industries for 25 years. Received her endowments in the Salt Lake Temple on May 6, 1960. She moved back to Oak City to help her father in March 1981. Levern loved everyone, and had a very kind and caring soul, spending her years taking care of and being a companion to many elderly women.

Levern is survived by her brothers: Nephi Jay (Lila Priest) Anderson; Don Lyman (Loraine Finlinson) Anderson Jr.; sisters: Maurine (Glenn) Widdison; Colleen (Kenneth) Wilkerson; many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by parents: Don & Thelma; step-mother: Ruth Lovell.

Funeral services were held on Friday September 29, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Oak City First Ward Chapel. Friends called at the Nickle Mortuary, Delta on Thursday evening from 7-8 pm and at the church on Friday from 9:30-10:45 am. Burial was in the Oak City Cemetery.

OBITUARY
Maurine Anderson Widdison passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 surrounded by her family at McKay Dee Hospital.

Maurine was born on October 9, 1932 to Don Lyman and Thelma Lovell Anderson in Oak City, Utah minutes before her twin sister. She was raised in Oak City and graduated for Delta High School. Maurine played the piano and the saxophone in the High School band. She received a Scholarship and attended Dixie Jr. College. She then moved to Salt Lake City to work. She taught Sunday school for two years at the Primary Children(TM)s Hospital and was the Ninth ward MIA President. Maurine has always been active in her church. She served an 18-month LDS Mission to the Eastern States (1956-57).

Maurine worked in Salt Lake City for eight years until she met Glenn L. Widdison during a dear hunting trip in Oak City. That year she boasts that she bagged the best kind of deer, the two-legged kind.

She and Glenn were married June 18, 1960, in the Manti LDS Temple. They are the parents of Marlin (Tena) Widdison, Tremonton; Jeanine (Renald) Holmes, Clinton; Lynette Widdison, Willard; and Lorin (Amy) Widdison, North Ogden.

Maurine served faithfully in several callings, including Relief Society Pianist, 35 years as Ward Organist, Primary President, Stake Missionary, Ogden Temple Organist and many teaching positions. Maurine loved her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served for six years as Company President over the South Box Elder County which included 15 Camps.

Maurine loved teaching, good books, good music, and making life fun. Camping with family and friends was her favorite activity. She like a good joke and would leave you with, “Have you heard this joke. . . ?”

She was able to serve two six-month missions (1998-99) with her husband at Martin (TM)s Cove the Mormon Handcart Visitors Center in Wyoming where she was able to live in her favorite home away from home, her fifth-wheeler.

She is survived by her loving husband, four children, 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Nephi (Lila) Anderson, St. George; and her twin sister, Coleen (Ken) Wikerson, Neola, UT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Don Lyman Anderson and her sister, Levern Anderson.

My Loving Husband, I Love you. Thanks for the Joy and Love that you have given me throughout our married life.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Willard 4th Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W., Willard.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Friday from 11:00 to 11:40 a.m. at the Church.

Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.

Francis Marvin Lyman, 58, died October 31, 1991 of a sudden heart attack.

Francis was born in Moab, February 21, 1933 to Marvin F. and Margie H. Lyman. He was a respected CPA and community leader. He served for many years as Bishop in Grand Junction, Colorado and Blanding, Utah, and most recently as Stake President. He will fondly be remembered by his family as a husband and a king, loving father, and by his friends as a man who always gave of his heart.

Francis is survived by his mother, Margie H. Lyman, his wife, DaNece, eight children, R. Duane and Trine Lyman, Salt Lake; Lynette and Matt Bayles, LaCrescenta, Calif.; Kent M. and Becky Lyman, Springfield, Missouri; Kelly J. Lyman, LaCrescenta, Calf.; Philip K. and Jodi Lyman, Blanding, Utah; LeAnn and Brent Hall, Cedar City, Utah; Cori and McKay Hugentobler, Manti; and Marci Lyman, Blanding; nine grandchildren, his brothers, Philip Lyman, Joe Lyman and sister, Caroline Christensen.

Funeral services 1:00 p.m., Monday, Blanding Stake Center. Friends may call Sunday evening, 6-9 p.m. and 10-12 noon, Monday, at the San Juan Mortuary in Blanding.

FILLMORE - Melva Finlinson Day, 61, Fillmore, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1976 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. One of three who died as a result of an accident on I-15 near Blackfoot, Idaho. Other victims were her daughter, Pauline Day Blackburn, and her granddaughter Lynnise Blackburn, both of Granger.

Born Feb. 11, 1915, to George E. and Mary Roper Finlinson, in Oak City, Utah. Married Newell D. Day. Nov. 18, 1935 in Salt Lake Temple. Pest President of Ward Relief Society. Stake YWMIA President, choir director, dance director, primary worker, Manti Temple ordinance worker, deputy county assessor and numerous other church positions.

Survivors; husband, two sons and daughter, Dwight F. Cincinnati, Ohio, Carolyn D. Blackburn, Idaho Falls, Lee N., Orem, 15 grandchildren; four brother, three sisters, Esdras Marvin and Mrs. Lucy Christensen, Oak City, Angle Lyman, Rexburg, ldaho, Mrs. Oakland (Martha) Delta, Edward, Fillmore, and Lenox, Prove.

A funeral for Melva Finlinson Day, 61, was held today at noon. Funeral services for her daughter, Pauline Day Blackburn, 39, who with Mrs. Day and Mrs. Blackburn's daughter, Lynnise, were killed as a result of an automobile accident on I-15 near Blackfoot, Ida., will be held Tuesday.

Mrs. Day died Thursday Nov. 25, 1976. Her funeral service will be held today at the Fillmore, Millard County LDS Stakehouse. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

She was born Feb. 11, 1915 to George E. and Mary Roper Finlinson, in Oak City, Millard County. She married Newell D. Day, Nov. 18, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The Fillmore woman was a Relief Society past president. She also served as Stake YWMIA president, and as choir director, dance director and primary worker. She had been a temple worker and a deputy county assessor and held numerous other church positions.

Survivors include her husband, two sons and daughter, Dwight F. Day, Cincinnati, Ohio; Carolyn D. Blackburn, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lee N. Day, Orem; 15 grandchildren, four brothers, and three sisters, Ezdras Marvin Finlinson and Mrs. Lucy Christensen, both of Oak City, Angie Lyman, Rexburg, Idaho, Mrs. Oakland (Martha) Dutson, Delta; Edward Finlinson, Fillmore and Lenox Finlinson, Provo.

Mrs. Blackburn died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1976. Funeral services for her will be held Tuesday, at 10 a.m. in the Granger 22nd LDS Ward chapel, 3270 W. 3650 S.

Friends may call at MacDougall Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the Granger 22nd Ward. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

She was the sister of Lee N. Day of Orem.

Mrs. Blackburn was born April 7, 1937 in Fillmore to Newell D. and Melva F. Day. She married Von C. Blackburn March 19, 1957 in the St. George LDS Temple. She was active in the LDS Church and had served as Relief Society President and primary president. She also served as a Laurel leader, organist, chorister, as well as in many teaching positions. She was an artist and a member of the American Theatre Organ Society.

Survivors include her husband, three sons and a daughter, Scott D. Balckburn, Allan Von Blackburn, Lori Jo Blackburn, all of Granger; father, Newell D. Day, Fillmore; two brothers and a sister, Dwight F. Day, Cincinnati, Ohio; Lee N. Day, Orem; Carolyn D. Blackburn, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Lynnise Blackburn, 16, Granger, was born April 22, 1960, in Salt Lake City to Von C. and Pauline Day Blackburn. She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a nursery leader in the primary. She was also a primary teacher, chorister, spiritual environment teacher and vice president of an LDS Seminary.

She was a junior at Granger High School and a member of the marching band, debate club, junior choir and the New Generation Dance Group.

Survivors include her father, Granger; three brothers and a sister, Scott Blackburn, Alan Blackburn, Thomas Blackburn and Lori Jo Blackburn, all of Granger; grandparents, Newell D. Day, Fillmore and Mrs. and Mrs. Easten Blackburn, St. George.

The funeral arrangements for Miss Blackburn are the same as those for her mother.

Renowned artist, member American Theatre Organ Society (ATOt) and elementary PTA board member. Worked at Harmon's West as a cake decorator.

Barton Lyman Bohn

Barton Lyman Bohn, age 44, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born July 14, 1964 in Monticello, Utah to Saun Leroy and Linda Lyman Bohn. Bart lived in McGill, Nevada until moving to Logandale, Nevada in 1983. He graduated from the Lane City School. He was born with a mental handicap that required him to live with and receive constant care from his parents and family. His life was filled with those who served him and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, Saun and Linda of Logandale; two brothers and two sisters: Margaret (Mark) Wright of Mesa, AZ; Steve (Marybeth) Bohn of Keller, TX; Saundra (Kent) Robertson of Ely, NV; Pat (Janghee) Bohn of W. Jordan, UT and numerous niece’s and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Blanding City Cemetery, Blanding, Utah. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Logandale LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Arrangements under the direction or Moapa Valley Mortuary.

Gary Bowen Lyman 1929 ~ 2006
On January 14, 2006, Gary Bowen Lyman, a man without guile, "returned with honor" to the God he had served so faithfully for 76 years. He was granted a miraculous 14-year extension on his life despite the blood-disorder from which he suffered. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed peacefully, due to an unexpected infection. The oldest child of Lynn and Hazel Lyman, Gary was born September 24, 1929 in Cortez, Colorado. He lived in Blanding, Utah, his beloved home town until leaving to serve his first mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Western States (during which time he also served in the mission presidency). Later, while a student at the University of Utah, he met and married Jo An Harline. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1953, and for the next 52 years modeled the essentials of a happy marriage to those that were closest to them. Jo An will forever be his sweetheart.

His irrepressible curiosity was a gift from his father and led him to his studies in engineering. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah, School of Engineering, earning a BSEE in 1955. He served his country as an active duty officer in the Strategic Air Command in the Air Force just after the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge he worked in management at Mountain Bell until his retirement. He retired in 1987 for the express purpose of looking after his parents. His mother died at age 96 just three weeks before his own passing. He served as a Branch President, a Bishop, twice as a High Councilor in the Grant Stake, as well as in many teaching callings. He was always a missionary, including six callings to formal service, one of which was with his wife to the Macon Georgia Mission. His knowledge of doctrine and the scriptures was extraordinary. He was the beloved and nurturing priesthood leader at the Infinia Care Center within Grant Stake for nearly five years, right up to the week he passed on. A kind and patient master teacher, he succeeded in bringing clarity to any topic. He wore out his life in service to family and neighbor, and every man was his neighbor. More than anyone, Gary knew the value of small things and simple deeds and reached out to the overlooked and forgotten. He had a clever wit and deep wisdom; he was unassuming, generous, and uncompromising in his principles. With astute observation he strived to make the world a better place.

Preceded in death by his parents Lynn Finlinson and Hazel Bowen Lyman. He is survived by his beloved wife Jo An; two sisters: Linda Bohn (Saun) and Libbie Loudenback (Eddie); six sons: Glenn (Janae), Gregory (Patsy), Reed (Kathryn), Dr. Cory (Janene), Jed (Angie), Dr. Matthew (Rosemary); 29 grandchildren; seven great-grand-children. He set the pace and fixed the safe standard for a numerous posterity to follow in his footsteps. Always wise and faithful in his deliberations, he was careful to make tracks in which others would find sure footing should they choose to follow. Viewing at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Wednesday, January 18, 6-8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the Ridgedale Ward, 3400 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, on Thursday, January 19, at noon, preceded by a viewing, also at the ward, from 10:30-11:30. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South.

OBITUARY
Linda Lyman Bohn, age 79, died Monday April 4, 2011 in Saint George, Utah. She was born October 23, 1931 in Cortez, CO to Lynn F and Hazel Irene Bowen Lyman. On April 27, 1957 she married Saun L. Bohn in the Manti LDS Temple in Manti, UT.

Linda was raised in Blanding, Utah where she loved to explore San Juan County with her family and friends. She graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding, UT. She attended college in Texas and finished her education at BYU in Provo, UT. She worked in Mesa Verde, CO. She taught elementary school in small communities in the Four Corners area. She met her sweetheart at a dance while working in Blanding, UT. After finishing school and starting their family they moved to McGill, NV, where they raised their children until moving to Logandale, NV in 1983. They made many lasting friendships wherever they lived.

Linda was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a friend to many and enjoyed humanitarian service. She won awards for her fine hand work.

Linda and Saun devoted their lives to loving and caring for their children and grandchildren and 44 of those years in service to their special needs son, Bart.

Linda always found time to play with the grandchildren and loved to have them come to visit. She loved her neighbors and friends and they loved her. Many felt as though they had became part of her family because of her unconditional love and care.

She is survived by her husband, Saun, of Logandale, NV: two daughters and two sons: Margaret (Mark) Wright of Mesa, AZ; Steve (Marybeth) Bohn of Columbia, MO; Saundra (Kent) Robertson of Ely, NV and Pat Bohn of Salt Lake City, UT.; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son Bart.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Logandale, Nevada. Visitation will be Friday April 8, 2011 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Logandale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.

OBITUARY
Caroline Lyman Christensen, 90, of Blanding, UT passed away on September 5, 2014, from natural causes associated with old age.

Caroline’s late husband of 63 years, Douglas Neldon Christensen, preceded her in death, in February of 2011.

Caroline was born in Moab, UT on May 14, 1924, to now-deceased Marvin Finlinson Lyman and Margie Jeanette Hurst Lyman.

Caroline attended public school in Blanding. She enjoyed school immensely.

As a youngster, she took piano lessons for a short time, but she basically taught herself how to play. She would play the piano for dance bands in her youth and for church and community functions for the rest of her life.

She graduated from San Juan High School in 1942, having been active in the school music program and in student government as senior class president.

Caroline entered the United States Cadet Nurse Corps training program, attending the LDS Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1946 as a Registered Nurse.

This nursing degree served her well as a parent and helped her support her husband while he attended graduate school in Maryland.

For a time, Caroline was the nurse for the LDS Church girls’ camp in the Sierra Nevada, and she helped develop and teach a nurse’s aide training course in Blanding.

Over the years, Caroline worked as a part-time nurse in Moab, on the East Coast, and in Antioch, CA.

After her marriage to Doug on June 28, 1947, Caroline was busy with children and church.

Caroline had all of her five children on the East Coast — in Maryland and New Jersey.

In the late 1950s, the family moved to Antioch, CA, where Caroline finished raising her children while holding many leadership positions in the LDS Church.

In the early 1970s, Caroline and Doug moved to Blanding, where they both lived until their deaths.

Caroline loved to travel and visited much of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and Japan.

In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing clothes, costumes, and outfits for her children; quilting and tatting, which she learned from her mother; and crocheting.

In her later years, when she was less mobile, she enjoyed reading, doing genealogical indexing, and visiting

with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Caroline is survived by her five children: Michael D. (Sidney) Christensen of Blanding; Kirk L. (Sue) Christensen of Rolla, MO; Scot L. (Julene) Christensen of Blanding; Marjorie C. Jones of Aztec, NM; and Suzanne Christensen of Clifton, CO. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren with three additional great-grandchildren on the way, and her brother, Joe Finlinson Lyman.

A viewing and funeral services were held on September 10, 2014, at the Blanding North Chapel. Caroline was interred at the Blanding cemetery next to her husband.

OBITUARY
Sharon Elizabeth Butt Shumway, 75, of Blanding, UT, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014 at the home of her son, Scott Shumway, in Globe, AZ.

Sharon was born to Susan Lyman and Harold Butt in Blanding, UT on May 15, 1939. She graduated from Blanding High School.

Sharon was married to Dean Carroll Shumway in 1957. They were married 12 years and had five children.

She received training to be an administrative assistant and worked in that field. She also worked as a nanny. But one of her favorite jobs was as a Head Start teacher in Blanding.

Sharon was very talented in many ways. She wrote beautiful poetry. She taught herself to play the piano and wrote musical pieces that both brought the spirit, but also could bring a smile.

She was a dancer in high school and continued to use that talent after high school in creating musical productions for youth groups.

She had a gift of humor and loved to laugh with her family and friends. Sharon loved reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed being politically involved. She volunteered her time in the fight against pornography and also as a member of the Davis County Library Board.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sharon is survived by five children; Sharidean (Kevin) Flint, Suzanne (Don) Taylor, Shauna (Todd) Walker, Sheldon (Kristen) Shumway, Scott (Janice) Shumway, 22 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit and Curtis Blake; and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on September 6 at the Blanding LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be held at the Blanding Stake Center at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral at the Blanding City Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by San Juan Mortuary.

Shirley Butt Winter Ensle, beloved mother, sister and friend passed away on December 26, 2013 after a long illness.

Shirley was born March 14, 1935 in Moab, UT to Harold W. Butt and Susan Lyman, the middle child of seven. Blanding was her home.

Shirley had a very full and active life. She was happiest while making others happy. She was known for her comic relief and costumes and was always the life of any gathering.

Shirley married Wilbur (Bill) Benson Winter in 1955 (later divorced). They had five children. During the years when her children were young, their family lived in Indiana, New York and Washington. She and the children moved back to Blanding in 1973. In 1978 she married Richard (Dick) Ensle. Dick passed away in 1988.

Shirley was known for her hard work ethic, good humor and her service and kindness toward others.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters; MarJean Standish and Julianne Fellmeth.

She is survived by her children: Armand Winter of Monticello, UT; Angela (Duke) Heaton of Orem, UT; Andrea Winter of Farmington, NM; Amy (Mike) Beliveau of Mapleton, UT; Adrienne (Jake) Winter of Hurricane, UT; sister Sharon Shumway; brothers Lynn Adams, Kermit (Virginia) Blake and Curtis (Shirley) Blake; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were January 4, 2014 in Blanding, UT. Interment at the Blanding City Cemetery.

The family thanks the staff of the Four Corners Care Center for their years of service.

Susan Lyman Butt, 92, Blanding, Utah, died June 1, 1994, in Monticello, Utah.

Susan was born December 31, 1901, in Oak City, Utah, to Walter C. and Elizabeth Finlinson Lyman. She married Joseph Adams; later divorced. Married Willard Harold Butt. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple.Susan, fondly known as "Sam or "Aunt Sam", loved life and had a rich and varied range of interests. She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and travel. She taught piano lessons and played piano in the town dance band; was an operator on the original town telephone system, helped to dress the community with her brightly-colored iris and flower garden, and composed several songs of local interest, including the beloved "Song of White Mesa". Susan made friends easily. Her broad spectrum of friends came from all walks of life, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren fell easily under her charm.

Susan was much loved and will be missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her sons and daughters: Lynn Adams and Julie Fellmeth, both of Monticello; Shirley Ensie and Kermit Blake, both of Blanding; Mar Jean Standish of San Clemente, California; Sharon Shumway of Ogden; and Curtis Blake of Udhailiyah, Saudi Arabia; her sister, Margaret Jones of Blanding; a half sister, Larue Shankle of Mariposa, California; 33 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. in the Blanding South Chapel. Friends may call Sunday, June 5, from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, June 6, from 9-10 a.m. at San Juan Mortuary, 370 South Main, Blanding. Interment, Blanding City Cemetery.

Palmer "Drew" Jones, 52, died Feb. 3, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a long hard fought battle with diabetes.

Born March 22, 1948 to Wendell Palmer and Phyllis Bradford Jones. Served a mission in North Central States. Married Arva Mary Hamblin April 14, 1972 in the Manti Temple. Attended Salt Lake Community College. Worked 27 years at the Salt Lake City Police Department in various positions. Served numerous callings in the church. Ward clerk, High Priest instructor and assistant Scout Master, which gave him time to camp and work with his own boys.

Drew is survived by his wife (eternal partner); four sons, Tyler Drew (Talia); Nathaniel Edwin (Dione); Trevor Samuel (Rachel); Anthony Michael (Erin); two granddaughters, Kati and Tori Jones; two grandsons, Devin and Joshua Jones; mother and step father, five brothers and six sisters. Preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at 12 noon at Nibley Park Ward, 2450 S. 600 E., viewing prior to services from 10:3011:30 at the church. Patrick Weldon Jones was born Jan. 9,1947 to Wendell P. and Phyllis Jones in Moab. He passed away in Tooele on Aug. 13.

Patrick was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, husband and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Marianne, mother Phyllis, children Cindy, Wendell (Christy), Marcia (Ky), and Adesa, stepchildren Alvin (Audrey), Barbara (Scott), Mike (Ludene), Danny (Leatha), Sabrina (Ron), Doug (Kathryn), and Steve (Christi), siblings Dale (Mary), Wendy (Butch), Georga, Taunya, Kumen (Janice), Jeff (Tracy), Susan, Rachelle, Blake (Deb), Terri (Kevin), Clyde (Jennifer), and Robby, and many extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by father, brother Drew, wife Pete (mother of Wendell and Marcia), and grandchildren Keith and Amanda.

Patrick was a high school state camp wrestler, horse breaker, rancher, pilot, miner, master mechanic, welder, heavy equipment operator and jack of all trades. He spent many years in Wyoming working at General Chemical where he retired in 2003.

He was very outspoken and said what was on his mind. He was willing to help anybody, even a complete stranger, and had a great sense of humor. He also liked gathering the family around, even collecting strays who needed a family.

Services will be at the LDS church at 1025 W. Utah Avenue in Tooele on Aug. 16. The viewing will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m., with the funeral from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The luncheon is immediately after the funeral. Interment will be in the Lyman, Wyo., cemetery at 4 p.m. The drive is approximately two and a half hours from Tooele. Take 180 East to WY413, then turn left onto Cemetery Road to 320. Cemetery is on the right.

Leon Weldon Jones

Former Palisade resident, Leon Weldon Jones, born August 14, 1926 in Blanding Utah, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at the age of 82. Leon was the son of Marvin Willard Jones and Mary Ann Palmer Jones and the great grandson of Hole in the Rock pioneer Kumen Jones. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, 10 brothers and sisters and one son, Eddie Kay Jones. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Jones, sons, Leon Kent (Cherie), Lewis "Louie" (LeVida), daughter, Marilyn (Steve) Peeples, one sister, Dora (Thane) Heiner, ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Leon and Mary lived in Blanding after marrying while Leon worked in the uranium mines. Leon continued to work at the mines and later found a job working at Dixon manufacturing in Grand Junction where he later became head of maintenance. Mary joined him as an employee at Dixon and they worked together for over 20 years. Leon retired in 1993. After retiring Leon wanted to return to Blanding. Although Mary preferred to stay in Colorado, she supported him in this interest and they sold their Palisade farm in 1995 and moved to their present home in Blanding.

Leon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, were he held many positions continuously until he was physically unable. For many years, he and Mary served in their ward nursery. Leon and Mary were inseparable. They did everything together. When asked recently for counsel from a grandson, he said, "find yourself a wife like Mary". Although his body began to fail him and he lacked much hearing, sight and could barely breath he continued to be as active as possible, looking for new projects and ways to help others, never losing the smile that all who knew him will remember. Leon will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. The funeral for Leon Weldon Jones was held on Friday, October 31, 2008. Leon was buried in the Blanding cemetery.

Leon Weldon Jones, born August 14, 1926 in Blanding Utah; died Monday, October 27, 2008 at the age of 82.

Leon was the son of Marvin Willard Jones and Mary Ann Palmer Jones and grandson of Hole in the Rock pioneer Kumen Jones.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, 10 brothers and sisters and son, Eddie Kay Jones.

He is survived by sister Dora Heiner (Thane), sons Leon Kent (Cherie) and Lewis “Louie” (LeVida), daughter, Marilyn Peoples (Steve), ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Leon attended San Juan High School and was a member of the Class of 1944.  He worked as a truck driver, mechanic, on his father’s dry farm north of Blanding, at a dairy in Dayton, Ohio, and in the mines near Blanding before marrying Mary Sanchez on September 23, 1950. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple.

Leon and Mary lived in Blanding after marrying while Leon worked in the uranium mines. In 1956, they moved to Moab, where Leon ran a Credit Bureau.  While in Moab, Leon sold his business and went to work with his brothers in a uranium mine in Colorado.

In 1960, Leon and Mary moved to Palisade, CO, where they bought a farm on eight acres and raised peaches, hay and farm animals.

 Leon continued to work at the mines and later found a job at Dixon manufacturing in Grand Junction, where he later became head of maintenance.

Mary joined him as an employee at Dixon and they worked together for over 20 years.  Leon retired in 1991.

After retiring, Leon wanted to return to Blanding. Although Mary preferred to stay in Colorado, she supported him in this interest and they sold their Palisade farm in 1995 and moved to their present home in Blanding.

Leon loved Blanding.  It was the most beautiful place in the world to him.  His favorite place to be was anywhere in San Juan County, whether on Blue Mountain, out in the sage brush, pine trees and junipers, or down in Bluff.

Leon also loved his family.  His family extended far beyond his own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved people—and everyone loved Leon.  It was hard not to.

Leon also loved his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Leon and Mary were baptized on December 26, 1974.  After his baptism, Leon was quickly called to serve.  He held many positions continuously until he was physically unable.  For many years, he served in the nursery with Mary.

Leon and Mary were inseparable.  They did everything together.  When asked recently for counsel from a grandson, he said, “Find yourself a wife like Mary.”

When he died, they had completed 58 years of marriage.  Leon also loved his Heavenly Father and never failed to express gratitude for his many blessings.  Although his body began to fail him and he lacked much hearing, sight and could barely breath, he continued to be as active as possible, looking for new projects and ways to help others, never losing the smile that all who knew him will remember.

The funeral for Leon Weldon Jones was held on Friday, October 31, 2008.  Leon is buried in the Blanding cemetery.

Marvin Lee Jones (1961-2007)

OBITUARY
Marvin Lee "Marv" Jones, 45, of North Vernon died at noon Thursday, February 15, 2007, at his home. Mr. Jones was a 1979 graduate of Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, Colorado, and was employed by Hilex-Poly Corporation in North Vernon. He also had worked in the warehouse of Columbus Container for a year and as a truck driver for PraxAir in Utah for four years. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, the desert, the mountains and woodworking.

The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Monday, February 19, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with Bishop Daniel Christensen officiating. Calling is from 4 p.m. Monday until time of the service.

Born May 31, 1961, in Grand Junction, Mr. Jones was the son of Larry and Martha Garcia Jones. He married Mia Michelle Russell on March 30, 2001, in Murray, Utah. Surviving are his wife; his mother, Martha Garcia of Montrose, Colorado; brothers, Charles Frost of Salt Lake City, Utah, John Frost of Olathe, Colorado, and Cliff Jones of Fuita, Colorado; and a sister, Helen Ramirez of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father.

OBITUARY
Rupert – Dora Evalyn Jones Heiner, age 74, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Rupert, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in Idaho Falls.

Dora was born on Dec. 12, 1939, in Blanding, Utah, to Marvin and Mary Ann (Palmer) Jones. As a young woman she worked to become a licensed beautician and also graduated from Stevens-Henager College before serving a full time mission to England.

She married Thane Irwin Heiner in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on Jan. 31, 1963.
She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings throughout her life. She and her husband served a mission to Panama and also served for many years as temple workers in both the Logan and Twin Falls Temples.

Dora had great enthusiasm for life. Her warm and friendly personality, coupled with her sincere interest in people, drew many to her. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joys were always centered in her family. She was also very talented musically. She was a gifted pianist and was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and she gladly shared these talents in both the church and the community all her life.

She is survived by eight children; Mary Ann (Mark) Lyons, Anthony Heiner, Dallon Heiner, Lynette (Larry) Wilson, Marci (Ryan) Waite, Julia Elder, Thurman (Natalie) Heiner, Ben Heiner, and Rachel Coats Anderson; 33 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Kyle; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Miss Cuma Jones, 29, 1317 E. 4130 South, died Tuesday at 2:50 a.m. of natural causes in a Salt Lake hospital.

Born July 18, 1935, Cortez, Colo., a daughter of Marion and Cleo D. Jones. Member, Winder Ninth Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Attended Heber City and Manti schools.

Survivor: mother, Mrs. Cleo D. Giles. Funeral Thursday 10 a.m., 260 E. So. Temple, where friends call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to services. Graveside services Thursday 3 p.m. Manti City Cemetery.

Ardis Jones Veirs, In Sun City, Arizona on December 14, 2004, Ardis Jones Veirs, the daughter of Kumen Stanley Jones and Millie Maude Porter Jones, passed away in her sleep at 82 years of age. She was born on the 4th of June, 1922 in Blanding, Utah. Raised in Salt Lake City,

Ardis graduated from Granite High School in 1940. A year out of high school she married Norman Russell Willoughby who was wounded in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Ardis and Norman divorced in 1957. Ardis married Earl Hyrum Jones, of Malad, Idaho, in 1960. Earl passed away in 1977. Earl and Ardis had one child, a son they named Earl Hyrum Jones, Jr., Earl senior passed away on the 27th of May, 1977 in Pocatello, Idaho. Later Ardis was anxiously courted by a true gentleman named George Veirs. They were married in 1981 in Ogden, Utah and moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1984. George was killed in an automobile accident in 1995 at Napa Valley, California.

Ardis is survived by a sister, Berdine Scott, Ogden, Utah; 5 children: Joan, Marc, Carole, Douglas and Earl, Jr. She has also left us with 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Several stepchildren and step grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12-1PM Friday, December 17, 2004. With Service at 1PM At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sun City Ward. 13014 N. 108th Ave., Sun City, Az.

Gary Lee Gale (1939-2007)

Gary Lee Gale 2/5/39 ~ 5/29/07 Gary Lee Gale was given his last and greatest wish May 29th 2007. Encircled by the loving family he helped to create, he returned to his Heavenly Home and was once again reunited with his Sweetheart, Judith Geniel Johnson Gale. 

Gary was born February 2nd, 1939 in Salt Lake to Benjamin Lee Gale and May Jones. He married his sweetheart June 2nd, 1961. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Gary was known to his family as one who was STROFT! SOFT and tender in regards to loving and supporting his circle of family and friends. STRONG in his commitment to his belief in God and his plan of Happiness for his children. Strong as well in courageously meeting the challenges of life that were his to face. Dad, you were the quiet pillar that we all came to count on and we will not take lightly the lessons you taught us; those of patience, service and loyalty. 

Gary is survived by his children, Lisa Deguenon, Pam and Russell Cuff, Chris and Lesli Gale, Heather and Anthony Nelson, Jared and Julie Gale, Vanessa and David Lloyd, his sister Julie Cowley, along with 14 cherished grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Judy and his parents Lee and May Gale. Service Saturday, June 2nd at 12:00 p.m. at the 58th Ward Chapel, 200 W. and 200 N., Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Berdine Jones Scott

Ogden – Berdine Jones Scott, 95, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away March 2, 2013.

Berdine was born August 7, 1917 in Blanding, Utah to Stanley Kumen Jones and Millie Maude Porter Jones. Her father died when she was five leaving her mother to raise 5 children on her own. She later married Elam Farlin Allen, who was a loving step-father to Berdine.

Berdine married George Robert (Bob) Scott on January 26, 1940. They lived in Salt Lake City and later moved to Ogden where they lived until Bob passed away on May 10, 2008. They had been married 69 years at that time. Berdine and Bob loved to bowl and golf and won many trophies. They were always surrounded by many wonderful friends.

Berdine's joys in life were her family, reading, painting, and playing the piano and organ. She was a devoted, loving mother to three daughters. She hosted family parties for birthdays, holidays and special events, giving her family many wonderful memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; loving husband, George Robert (Bob) Scott; her brother, Stanley Jones and sisters, Mae, Ardis and Marilyn; and two great grandchildren, Sarah and Zachery Hart.

Berdine is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Judy Hart (Robert), Claudia Runolfson (Vell), Wendy Douglas (Brent); fourteen grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. with a viewing prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd.

Special thanks go to Ina Marcus, Berdine's special nurse who attended to her needs almost every day for 4 ½ years and became her very dearest friend. Our thanks also go to Advocate Hospice , Legacy house, and

Vard Stanley Jones (1919-1993)

Vard Stanley Jones, veteran Salt Lake newspaperman, avid golfer, great respecter of nature and the outdoors, died July 1, 1993 in the LDS Hospital of lymphoma. He was 73.

He spent 34 years in the news business, as a reporter and rewrite man for the Deseret News from 1947 to 1959, and as a reporter and wire editor for the Salt Lake Tribune from 1959 until his retirement in 1981. A determined competitor, he won many trophies in Utah golf tournaments.He was a charter member of the select Thursday Sabbath Club whose five or six members for many years spent all day on Thursday each week exploring Utah's deserts, mountains and byways. He became an authority on Utah wildflowers and birds and loved to make others aware of the beauties of nature. He was a good teacher. In the office, he would say to staffers, "Name a wildflower," and if he couldn't supply the scientific name, he'd buy them a cup of coffee or drink.

One of his sayings was, "You gotta live a little or you don't live at all." And he lived by it, only he lived a lot. He was a versatile man who could build a house, make repairs on almost anything, carve birds, make beautiful jewelry with rocks he found, recite verses of Omar Khayyam, tell a good story, and make life-long friends.

He was born October 23, 1919 in Blanding, Utah, a son of Kuman Stanley Jones and Millie Maude Porter. He was proud of being the grandson of Kuman Jones, who drove the first wagon down the Hole in the Rock in the 1879 trek across that wild country. He married Wanda Mae Glasset June 30, 1940 in Salt Lake City. She died January 8, 1985. He attended West and Granite High Schools, Utah State University, and graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He served in the US Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Great Salt Lake Audubon Society, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the LDS Church.

Survivors include his mother, Maude Allen, Ogden; son, David Jones, LaVerkin; daughter, Sandra Tate, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also three sisters, Berdine Scott (Bob), Ogden; Ardis Veirs (George), Sun City, Arizona; Marilyn Smith (Don), Garden Grove, Calif.; and best friend, Maxine Martz. A sister, Mae Gale (Lee), preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive. Friends may call from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.

OBITUARY
St. George, Utah - David S. Jones, 70, passed away December 12, 2011. He was born November 29, 1941, in Glendale, California to Wanda Glassett and Vard S. Jones. He married Kathy Jones, July 31, 1987 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At age 5, his parents moved to Salt Lake City where he was raised until he moved to LaVerkin in 1989. He achieved two Masters Degrees, one in science and the other in mathematics. Dave was a professor for 18 years at LDS business college teaching mathematics and computers. When he was not busy teaching, he enjoyed various outdoor activities including: hunting, fishing, hiking, wildlife, and photography. Dave also took much pleasure in sharing his accumulated knowledge with others.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jones of St. George, Utah; Davey (Beverly) Jones, Jenny Jones, Eric Jones, Pam (Robert) Skinner, Duane (Elizabeth) Foote, Michael Foote, Shauna (Brandon) Shepherd, Douglas (Katie) Foote, Angela (Carlos) Gomez, Jeremy Jones and 21 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vard S. and Wanda Glassett Jones; his first wife, Carladene Jones; and his sister, Sandra Tate.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary located at 110 South Bluff Street. The viewing will take place December 16, 2011 at Spilsbury Mortuary from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday an hour prior to the funeral services.

Because of Dave's love for the outdoors, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the wildlife foundation of your choice.

Miss Peggy

Peggy slipped quietly out of this life on Monday September 3 after a life of pain and assorted surgeries for chronic poor health.

Peg was born January 22, 1934 in Cortez, Colorado the 2nd daughter of Francis W. and Gwen Hurst Jones. She availed herself of very little formal education, relying instead on what she learned in the School of Hard Knocks and by being a voracious reader. She married Grant William Walker September 13, 1968. They had 27 good years together until his death from heart surgery complications on February 4th 1995. Peggy loved birds and animals and could barely bear to see their suffering. She was constantly seeking ways to help her fellow creatures - animal or human.

At age 74, Peg got reactivated in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after a 60 year absence. That was very hard, but she felt it was worth it as it gave her the opportunity to be sealed in the Temple to her dear Grant. Her greatest joy the last four years was doing Initiatory work at the Jordon River Temple every Tuesday morning, where she made many dear and valued friendships. Her other great joy was the weekly lunch with her siblings and the brothers' wives.

Peggy is survived by sisters Norma Dee Ryan and Marrilyn Valenzuela, brothers Gordon S. (Sue) Jones, Paul F. (Jean) Jones, Kumen H. (MaryAnn) Jones, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and many dear friends who all loved our "Miss Peggy".

Preceded in death by parents and husband.

We are having an informal "meet and greet" from 11:00 - 12:00, Saturday September 8th at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City followed immediately by a prayer at the grave site.

The family wish to express our thanks and appreciation to Haven Hospice for their care, interest, and compassion, especially Rolland the tall nurse, and Jill the awesome shower giver.

SPANISH FORK - Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. White, prominent newlyweds were married Thursday in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The bride is the former Patricia Moody, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Milo C. Moody. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant W. White. They will be feted tonight at a reception in the Palmyra Stake House.

The bride will wear her bridal dress of white satin, designed in floor length with pearls and lace accenting a V-neckline, and a full skirt. A lace head band detailed with teardrop pearls and sequins, holds her fingertip veil of bridal illusion. Her bouquet will be cream colored phalaenopsis and stephanotis.

Junece Jex will be maid of honor and Mrs. James A Thorn and Mrs. Richard L. Finlinson attending matrons. Nadine Warner and Lydia Nell Moody, sister of the bride, bridesmaids. All will wear antique taffeta in dusty rose. Their bouquets are to be of deep rose carnations. Charie Marie Nelson and Marilyn Moody will be flower girls.

Richard L. Finlinson will be best man. M. Lyman Moody, Darrell Dixon and Kenneth Pinegar will assume usher duties.

The bride selected a tailored marine blue dress of nylon with black accessories for her going-away. After a honeymoon in the Pacific Northwest and Canada they will be at home in Provo. Mr. White will do post-graduate work at Brigham Young University and Mrs. White will continue her studies as a shop sophomore.

Willis "Willy" Lane Wilcken was born on 26 April 1945 in Rexburg, Madison Co., ID. He is the son of Lane LaGrand Wilcken and Millie Lyman. He married Millie Rivera  in 1968 and they are the parents of seven children. He was preceded in death by his son, Willis Lane Wilcken Jr., from a previous marriage.

Willis died on 27 Oct 2012 in Mesa, Maricopa Co., AZ. It was discovered that he had methothelioma as a result of his military service in the Philippines years ago. He had worked on aircraft and was exposed to abestos during that time. Willy shared his testimony online and his writings were shared at his funeral. This is his mormon.org profile:

I am a husband, father of 8, grandfather of 42+, and mechanic/custom car/3 wheeled motorcycle builder. My sons and I work together in the family business and love our association. We build radically styled, crazy, custom three wheeled motorcycles and custom cars while also doing general car repair. Things are never dull around our place. Of our 8 children one is deceased. His passing, while sad, is tempered by our understanding of the eternal nature of our existence and nature of our heavenly family relationships. We look forward to continuing our family relationships beyond this life in much the same way we do here. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is everything to us. It is our past, our present, and our beckoning future!

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and eldest son, Willis Jr. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Mildred Rivera, children: Lane, Cathy, John, Joseph, Lydia, Clarissa, Jared and 41 grandchildren. Willis was a lifelong car, airplane enthusiast and entrepreneur. He was a great husband, father and friend to many. Services will be held at the LDS chapel on Adobe & Val Vista in Mesa at 10am concluding with interment in Fillmore, Utah.
